Countertops - Up Close Pictures

I know some of you asked for an up close picture of the counters.  Because they are just so gosh darn shiny, it is almost impossible to get a picture which shows an accurate representation.  Here are my less than stellar attempts.  I hope you can get an idea of what they look like from at least one of these.  The camera flash really makes them look busy.   The silver is very muted and subtle.

This picture sort of shows the glitter a little bit.  I would say this one is the most spot on!  Hope these help!

  1. Absolutely gorgeous... thanks so much for posting the close up.

You must be thrilled with the outcome. I just can't believe the difference it has made. I would have thought it was the real thing.

Welcome to blogland... this is just the beginning... if you keep posting projects like this you will have quite the following in on time. You will meet the nicest people on here, sit back and enjoy.

    Have a great day...

  2. Thank you for posting close ups of your counter top - it looks fantastic! I feel inspired to do this in my bathroom.

I found your blog via Better After and I could hardly believe that's not real granite. This is by far the best painted counter top I've ever seen!

  4. You did a beautiful job! Can't believe how much it looks like granite. After seeing your spectacular results, I really want to do this!!!!! I went on over to thrifty fun and researched. I did find that a few of those who used the envirotex had said that you cannot place anything hot on them and also that it left indentations in the countertop if anything was set on them... I am a little worried about having marks appearing on my kitchen counter if I was to do this. I have a young family and I want them to be durable and low maintenance. Have you found that you had any problems with this? Please let me know!

    Thanks!

  5. Ashley - they are like regular countertops - hard as a rock. You couldn't indent them if you tried but the can scratch but it takes a lot. With anything hot you have to use a trivet or cutting board like we should anyway with regular counters, right? They are low maintenance - furniture polish makes they just shine and then I wash them again to get the furniture polish off. :-) Good luck!

  6. Hi Tracy,

Your countertops look great! How did you do the glitter? I tried it on a test piece of my countertop and it was very sparkly and came out of the bottle really fast. How did you get yours to look so good and realistic?

    Thanks so much!

    1. Hi Kelly! The glitter is the Martha Stewart glitter which is like a very fine dust. I put some between my fingers and sprinkled it like pixie dust. :-) In some areas I used a lot and some not so much. I used the black glitter which to my surprise was very effective on a black countertop. You have to do this right before you put down the epoxy because if it blows around or gets clumped together, you will lose the effect and it will make a bump in the Envoritek. Hope this helps! Good luck!

    2. Tracy, I mixed mine into the EnviroTek and it worked great-no problems with clumping or blowing around!

  7. Tracy, What did you do to the edge where the wood trim is? I have the same thing and am wondering if i need to sand it to smooth the bump. Also do you see a seam there?

    1. Hi Denise. I simply painted the counter and the wood trim so it all blended together. If there is a bump there now - it will be the same - you can always use joint compound/spackle to even it out if you need to. I didn't have a bump - my wood trim was flush with the counter surface if that is to what you are referring? There isn't a seam because the Envirotek seals everything so it is all one hard surface. The ugly trim actually turned out to look like a decorative edge! Sweet! If you have any more questions - ask away. I was SO nervous before I tried it too.

I wanted you to know I painted my countertops. I just started blogging and did a tutorial on it. I did create a link in my post to your blog! You really inspire me. Thank you so much!

  12. Going to try this on a piece of countertop I put over the old porcelain top of an antique Sellers cabinet I am using as a sort of Island. I bought lovely formica countertops a couple years ago with the waterfall edge that look like granite...I am hoping to get that same look, at least on the top of the piece that will look like it matches my counter tops. Didn't have a clue I could do this! Thanks!!
