I have always had very strong opinions about fashion and decor. I can remember as far back to when I was 8 years old shopping for back to school shoes with my Mom. I saw a pair of shoes and had to have them. They were maroon oxfords with maroon and black argyle shoe laces and oil rubbed bronze hardware. They didn't match any of my school clothes but I didn't care. I had to have them.
Being the youngest of 4, I can remember coming home to show off my new kicks and being laughed at by my brother and sisters. But I absolutely didn't care. That is the moment when I knew I had my own personal sense of style and had a strong conviction to being my own person. Yay me. ;-)
That is where my pure enjoyment (aka obsession) of POLYVORE comes in! Polyvore is a site where you can create "sets" of women's clothing, menswear, and home decor using a bank of thousands of products from around the world. Need a J Crew bib necklace, just search it. How about a velvet sofa? No problem. You can use it to plan outfits, a living room or just create your dream ensemble where money is no object!
I find it do be very relaxing and definitely gets the creative juices flowing. There are contests you can enter, you can simply do it for fun or design an outfit for an upcoming event. You can choose a Tiffany diamond ring valued at $50,000 or a jumper from London for $40. The sky's the limit!
This is the first set I ever created and then someone "liked" it and I was thrilled. LOL
Here is one I did for New Year's Eve 2011.
This contest was for a summer trend of "lace dress".
This contest was for Dream Beach House design. What I loved about this was that I was able to go outside of my comfort zone of NAVY & WHITE which is my "go to" design decor always. It was fun to explore a new palette.
Audrey is always a staple in my world! Grace and elegance.
My obsession with all things Ralph Lauren.
I love the trend of shimmer make up - this was another contest.
Holiday sets are always fun!
Disney, of course!
Did this set during the blizzard and dreaming of tropical climates!
This was an ice skating style contest. This is one of my favorites!
Cheer cheer for old Notre Dame! Irish couture is always fun!
So those are just some of my sets I have done. It really is fun to travel outside of your comfort zone without the charge bills and regrets. Everything is virtual and when someone "likes" a set it is almost a strong sense of validation. Give it a try and let me know what you think. If you are already on Polyvore - give me a follow and I'll follow you back!
Happy designing!
